Special Activities

The following are special activities scheduled for registered participants and auditors of the Tango for Musicians and Tango for Composers at Reed College 2017 program. These activities are not open to the public.

 

Sunday, June 25
Meet & Greet and Welcome Talk
6:30 p.m.
Performing Arts Building Atrium
Get to know your fellow musicians through an informal activity. Then the director and artistic director will introduce the artistic faculty and provide a brief orientation to our week's exciting program.

Sunday, June 25
Opening Concert
7:30 p.m.
Performing Arts Building Atrium
This opening concert will feature different ensembles made up of artistic faculty members showcasing their individual artistic identities by performing their latest compositions.

Wednesday, June 28
Soccer Game
6:00 p.m.
North Upper Playing Field
A passion rooted as deep in Argentinian tradition as tango music, this informal soccer game will be the perfect excuse to wind down and hang out with fellow participating musicians and faculty members.

Picnic and Open-Air Barbecue
7:00 p.m.
LOCATION CHANGE: Great Lawn West
The ideal way to put an end to an exhausting day of musical training!

Friday, June 30
Fogon
8:30 p.m.
Cerf Amphitheatre
An informal outdoor gathering near Portland's oldest naturally occurring lake. A great opportunity to wrap up a week of intensive music making by sharing songs, stories, and laughter with fellow participants and faculty members around the campfire.

Saturday, July 1
Student Showcase
2:00 p.m.
Eliot Hall chapel
The student showcase will provide students with an opportunity to share what they have learned with their peers in a supportive and encouraging environment.
