Zipcar Car-Sharing Program on Campus
Zipcar and Reed have joined forces to provide Reed students, staff,
and faculty a car-sharing program on campus at discounted driving
rates. Car sharing gives students, staff, and faculty the flexibility
to not bring cars to campus, and to choose alternative methods of
transportation to get to work or class.
You must be 18 years old to become a member. Membership is $35 for students and is applied as a credit toward use; membership for faculty and staff is a free benefit of employment at Reed. Once you join, you will receive a membership swipe card that gives you access to the cars at Reed, plus access to and discounted rates for more than 5,000 vehicles in urban centers nationwide.
To use Zipcars, members simply reserve the vehicle online for the desired times of use, walk to the vehicle location at the time of their reservation, swipe their Zipcard over the card reader, and drive away. The reservation fee includes the cost of gas, insurance, and mileage.
Through Reed's account, you may take advantage of discounted
membership and driving rates; more than 20 makes and models of
vehicles, including pickup trucks, Minis, convertibles, minivans,
hybrids, Volvos, and Outbacks; easy access to vehicles that live in
neighborhoods all over Portland; and universal membership that allows
you to seamlessly use Zipcars at a discount in more than 15 cities.
