About Student Services
Student services programs and offices provide support for students as they explore life in and outside of the classroom. We attempt to offer interesting opportunities to connect with other members of the community who have a common interest, and we assist students as they plan activities and events. The staff strives to help students find healthy and meaningful experiences, while offering a break to the rigors of the Reed academic experience and assistance when needed.
The offices of student services include career services, residence life, student activities, community safety, sports and recreation, health and counseling, academic and specialized support services, and dining services. Each office has their own web presence that you can explore to learn more.
Among the many things they do, the student activities office works with student signators, the students who are responsible for organizations. The staff's efforts range from answering questions about legal contracts or fee negotiations with a band, to helping reserve a van, to encouraging groups to coordinate efforts so that they can offer a variety of events and avoid conflicts. In this work the staff helps students avoid legal difficulties and, more importantly, helps them bring their creative ideas to fruition.
Reed's residence life programs provide housing and extensive programming for on-campus students. The house advisers (student staff) are selected and trained by the resident advisers (professional staff). Together they respond to student concerns and organize social and educational events for residential students. They aim to provide an environment where students can pursue both their academic and social goals.
