A little known fact of Reed College is we do have students who compete on athletic teams. Believe it or not some Reed students find time in their day to practice or compete. Typically our teams practice twice a week and compete once a week during the peak season.

The rugby teams compete in the Pacific Northwest Rugby Football Union. Our men 's and women 's teams have competed in regional championships finishing as high as second place. The soccer team competes in the Greater Portland Soccer District League. Games are played every Sunday in the fall. The squash team competes in the Portland Squash League. The Portland Squash league is open to all age groups and many of the teams we compete against have Reed alumni playing for them. Finally, the basketball team competes as an independent. We play other local Northwest small college teams. And ultimate frisbee, our newest addition to out club sports, primarily plays collegiate ulitmate tournaments around Oregon and Washington.

All club sports have a specific coach or coaches who work developing the individual talent of the players. Our coaches understand the rigors of our players academic lives and they work hard to develop a well rounded student athletes. Reed may not win every contest, but our student-athletes compete hard and deliver 100% effort on the fields and in the courts.
