Women's Self-defense
This course teaches basic skills and concepts in women's self defense. These include the psychology of self-protection from a feminist viewpoint, recent information on crimes against women, awareness training, and physical and verbal defensive skills. The material changes from year to year with better information and the continuing education of the instructors. No prior experience is expected; students of all levels are welcome.
Advanced Women's Self-defense
The advanced course builds on and extends the skills and ideas introduced in the basic program. Content varies according to the preparation and needs of the students. In the past this has included topics such as advanced deterrence, defense against armed and multiple attackers, instinct development, and functioning under high stress and sensory overload. Field trips outside of normal class hours are a possibility. This course is primarily aimed at students who have taken the beginning class. Other students may enroll with permission of the instructors.
