Ross Donaldson '06

Ross Donaldson graduated from Reed with a BA in music and has since occupied himself as a bicycle mechanic, tea authority, carpenter, singer, personal chef, and hammer salesman. Somewhere in there, Ross studied user-centered design, information architecture, business, and project management at the University of Washington, earning a Masters of Science in Information Management.

For the last five years, Ross has worked as a data scientist in the tech sector, where he brings story-telling and pragmatism to the work of converting raw data into information. At Self Aware Games, Ross lead a team focused on user behavior and business intelligence -- and in the process, collaborated with every functional group and team there in his efforts to empower them with timely, germane information. Ross currently works at (Reedie-founded) Urban Airship dealing with the myriad challenges of making data-at-scale accessible.

As SDS Coordinator, Ross is responsible for working with SDS interns and mentors, guiding SDS projects, developing training materials, identifying technical resources. and serving as liaison between the SDS, other areas of the college, and the universe.

Ross also works closely with the center for life beyond Reed, computing & information services (CIS), and other campus groups to organize and host workshops, lectures, and other technology-related events.
