Disability-Related Housing Accommodations

Some buildings were created with accessibility in mind, including Naito, Sullivan, Bragdon, the Spanish House, Bidwell, Sitka, Sequoia, and Aspen. Many of Reed’s older buildings, including Old Dorm Block, Anna Mann, MacNaughton, Foster, and Scholz, have been renovated to provide more accessible options.

Visit our more-options page for information about gender-inclusive housing, women’s housing, and substance-free housing.

Accommodations Request Process

To request or receive housing accommodations for a disability, students must register with the office of disability support services (DSS). Students will discuss their accommodation needs with the DSS staff and provide the necessary documentation for consideration. Information specific to incoming students can be found here. After an initial appointment and conversation with the student, the DSS office staff read through the file and determine appropriate accommodations. The documentation guidelines for DSS can be found on their website. If you have any questions about disability documentation or the accommodations process, please contact the director of DSS, Theresa Lowrie.

If a student secures housing on campus, Residence Life will meet approved disability related housing accommodations.

Detailed information and timeline for requesting disability-related housing accommodations can be found here.
