New HA Application Information

Before you begin, we urge you to read the following information carefully before the submission of your application. Thank you for your interest in the House Adviser position! Please read our FAQ about HA Applications and Positions.

Application Checklist:

The following items must be submitted no later than noon on Tuesday, January 30, 2017. Applications received on time will be given preference for interviews.

PHASE ONE: WRITTEN APPLICATION

  • Decide if this position is right for you by reading the position description carefully and checking all the mandatory training dates with your schedule.

  • Consider attending an informational session to discuss the position or financial considerations associated with accepting a House Adviser position.

  • Prepare your application materials
    • Resume
    • Cover letter
    • Recommendation Form
      • You may choose an HA OR a Staff member OR a Faculty member to complete the recommendation form. 
        • Make sure you choose someone who knows you and your skillset well enough to submit a thorough evaluation for you.
      • Note: You do not have to use your current HA.

  • Consider attending a resume workshop, contacting a PCA, or setting up an appointment with The Center for Life Beyond Reed for resume writing tips and critique.

      • Wednesday, January 24, 2018, 4-5 PM (Prexy)
  • Submit application materials to res.life@reed.edu by Tuesday, January 30 at noon. Applications received on time will be given preference for interviews.

PHASE TWO: INDIVIDUAL INTERVIEW

  • Sign up for an individual interview

You will receive an e-mail by the end of the day on Friday, February 2 indicating whether your application has continued on to Phase Two. If your application has continued on, you will need to sign up for an individual interview time.

Individual interviews will take place between Monday, February 13 and Wednesday, February 15 and will last approximately 45 minutes. You must participate during one of these times to be considered.

You will need to sign up online for an interview between Friday February 3, through Tuesday, February 7. Only individuals signed up for an interview by Tuesday, February 7 at 5:00 PM will be given an interview slot.

  • Consider attending an Interview Workshop hosted by The Center for Life Beyond Reed to prepare for your interview
    • Interview Workshop: February 8, 2017, 4-5 PM (Prexy)

PHASE THREE: GROUP INTERVIEW

  • Attend the Group Interview 

You will receive an email by the end of the day on Monday, February 20 indicating whether your application has continued on to Phase Three. If it has continued, you will be required to attend a Group Interview on Sunday, February 26. You will be assigned an interview time that lasts at least 90 minutes. You must be available for this interview in order to continue in the HA selection process.

  • Check your email!  HA decision letters will be sent out on Monday, March 6.
