Celebrated authors featured in fall Visiting Writers series
Reed’s fall 2004 Visiting Writers series opened September 30 with a reading by celebrated
writer A. Van Jordan, author of Buffalo Head Solos and an assistant professor
of English at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. Winner of the 2002 PEN/Oakland
Josephine Miles Book Award for his work Rise, he has published poetry in Ploughshares, Georgia
Review and Poetry Daily, among other anthologies and journals.
Others in the series include Chris Offutt, who The New Yorker says “picked
up where Daniel Boone left off”; poet Jennifer Grotz; writer Ryan Harty; and Julie
