Mary Catherine King appointed
acting VP and dean of student services

Mary Catherine King, who has been serving as associate dean for student and health services, has been named acting vice president and dean of student services. King, who joined the staff in 1994, is leading the team that supports health, residence life, physical education, career services, and safety on the Reed campus.

She replaces Regina Mooney, who resigned after more than three years in the position; a search committee that includes students, faculty and staff members, and trustees has begun its work to identify a new vice president and dean of student services. Reed College president Colin Diver expressed gratitude for the “many contributions Regina has made to the welfare of the college and its students” and added that “she served Reed with dedication and energy, and I speak on behalf of the entire community in expressing to her my thanks and best wishes.”

King is a licensed psychologist and psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner with a clinical certification in adult psychiatric and mental health nursing. She has served on the faculties of Oregon Health and Science University, where she developed a mental health clinic, and Pacific University. King maintains a private practice in psychotherapy consultation and serves as a frequent clinical consultant to educational, health care, and public organizations. She earned a Psy.D. from the Pacific University Oregon Graduate School of Professional Psychology, a post-master’s from the University of Oregon Health Sciences Center, and an M.Ed and B.S. from South Dakota State University, Brookings.
