Alumni
volunteer trip to China
Do you have two weeks to make a difference?
 Traveling
on a team to China through Global Volunteers will allow you to experience
both the ancient traditions and contemporary culture of this complex country.
The Chinese people invite you to help them learn conversational English
and share highlights and insights from your personal life. Each day, you’ll
meet with English-language students in Bo-ai, on the outskirts of the
historic city of Xi’an. You’ll witness the rural beauty and
the stimulating urban pulse of modern-day China. But most important, you’ll
experience China through the eyes of those who know it the best. As a
volunteer, you will realize that while you contribute your skills in a
meaningful, helpful way, you’ll return feeling that you’ve
gained more than you’ve given.
This exciting work vacation will be lead by a Global Volunteers leader
and a member of the Reed faculty, who will entertain volunteers with several
lectures during the trip. Global Volunteers is a nonprofit, nonsectarian
organization whose mission is to help individuals to work with and learn
from local people worldwide by assisting with local development projects.
Volunteers pay their own airfare and a program service fee, which helps
support the ongoing work project of the community and covers the cost
of meals, lodging, on-site transportation, and an experienced team leader.
