Reed College’s philosophy department has won favorable
praise from the “Philosophical
Gourmet”, which has become the premier guide to graduate study
in philosophy in the U.S. In the section on undergraduate study Reed is
mentioned as one of the institutions with the best philosophy faculties,
and the report notes that “A school like Reed sends more students
on to top Ph.D. programs than most universities with top 20 philosophy
departments; that says something important about the quality of the philosophical
faculty and curriculum.”
