Rivenburg, Reeds director of institutional research, has been elected
chairman of the board for the Higher Education Data Sharing Consortium
(HEDS). HEDS is a voluntary not-for-profit organization that assists member
institutions in their planning, management, and institutional research
by sharing information and providing other services including special
studies, research reports, and member conferences concerning national
and governmental trends. The membership encompasses 138 institutions spanning
baccalaureate colleges to research universities. The nine-member board
directs the data sharing activities of the membership and oversees the
research activities of the consortiums executive director and staff,
housed at HEDS-quarters at Franklin & Marshall College
in Lancaster, Pennsylvania.
Rivenburg has been director of institutional research at Reed since 1988,
in a position established by trustee Daniel Greenberg 62 and his
wife, Susan Steinhauser. He also served as acting registrar in 1993 and
as acting dean of admission from 1995 to 1997.
