Early decision at reed
	This year 92 students out of the incoming class of 320 will be entering Reed in the fall as early decision matriculants. The early decision group, on average, maintained a 3.614 GPA; achieved a SAT verbal 645, SAT math 682, and ACT composite 30; and come predominantly from the Mountain and Southwest states, followed by states in the North and Northeast. The admission office, while pleased that such a high percentage of the class has selected the college as their absolute first choice, notes that it is also wary of the trend toward early decision applications as a strategy for students to improve their chances of admission or for colleges to inflate their rankings.
