Alumni College June 7-9, 2000Better Living Through Genetic Engineering of Plants?
The course will feature lectures and labs on the scientific, public policy, and ethical implications of genetic engineering in plants. Participants will break into small conferences for discussion. Readings will be from various journals (such as Trends in Ecology and Evolution, Nature, Science) and Stephen Nottingham's Eat Your Genes.

Notice of nominationsThe alumni association's nominating committee will soon begin work to fill vacancies for 2000-01. Positions to be filled are president, vice president, secretary (all one-year terms); alumni trustee (four-year term); four general alumni board positions (three-year terms); and three seats on the nominating committee. Alumni are invited to submit names of potential nom-inees, along with supporting information, to Reed College, Office of Alumni Relations, Nominating Committee, 3203 SE Woodstock Blvd., Portland OR 97202-8199.
