In 1996 Reed profiled six first-year students. Here they are today.
Not too long ago, confronting the year 2000 seemed like a daunting prospect, certainly for computer programmers, but also for the young men and women entering college. In November 1996 we profiled six students just beginning their first year at Reed-John Alexander, Owen Edson, Derek Lyons, Amanda Macindoe, Shanna Tury, and Kelsang Wangdi. Nearly four years later, only one of those six students is not at Reed, having transferred to another college. Another student decided to take a year off, but intends to graduate with Reed's class of 2001. Four of the six students interviewed in 1996 will graduate as members of Reed's class of 2000. In the words of Owen Edson, "Good for us!"
