The Sherman Fairchild Foundation has granted Reed $202,500 to use over three
years to expand its undergraduate summer research program in the sciences. The fund—with a
goal of teaching research skills in a mutually supportive science culture—will be used to add
15 student research positions each summer with faculty members in biology, chemistry, physics, and
neuroscience. The primary beneficiaries
of the expanded program will be physics and neuroscience, areas in which the departments would like
to enhance the student research culture.
