Mela Kunitz ’87 joins alumni relations staff

Mela Kunitz ’87 joined the alumni relations office as assistant director, events and programs, in November. She received her bachelor’s degree in political science from Reed in 1987 and worked in Reed’s alumni office from 1990 through 1994. She also holds a master’s degree in organizational communication from Marylhurst University.

With more than 13 years of experience in special event coordination, project management, and volunteer recruitment, Kunitz recently honed her skills further as the Simon Benson House coordinator for Portland State’s alumni relations office. In her new role at Reed, Kunitz will oversee the production of major alumni events, including reunions and chapter activities as well as parent orientation and parent and family weekend.
