Holiday Party - festivity, food and fun

The standing for the boar's head procession is an enduring alumni party tradition
The new Gray Center lounge and Kaul Auditorium provided the festive setting for this year's alumni holiday party. Many local volunteers donated their time to deck the Kaul with flowers, greens, and candles. Bountiful hors d'oeuvres and desserts were served, including classic plum pudding, and guests munched and mingled throughout the evening. Everyone stood for the boar's head procession, an enduring tradition complete with ancient song, flaming torches, and black-hooded singers. Afterwards guests danced to the music of the Rebecca Kilgore Quintet, putting to good use swing dance lessons offered earlier in the evening. Due to popular demand, the revelers were given an extra hour to dance this year, but still couldn't seem to get enough. Once you've been to a Reed social, it's hard to know when to stop dancing.

Alumni, friends, and faculty danced for hours to the Rebecca Kilgore Quintet.
