  Johanna Thoeresz ’87 is new director of development

Johanna Thoeresz ’87, former director ofdevelopment at the Catlin Gabel School in Portland, Oregon, has joined the Reed staff as directorof development.

“In the recently completed Campaign for Reed College, we raised over $50 million from friends and alumni in
the Pacific Northwest,” said Hugh Porter, vice president of college relations. “With her strong experience developing philanthropy in Oregon and Washington, Johanna will help us continue to build our important sources of regional support.”

Thoeresz’s responsibilities at Reed will include leading and managing the development program, providing support to the trustees’ development committee, and overseeing the annual fund, corporate and foundation relations, major gifts, planned giving, and development research.

“As a student, my professors at Reed inspired my creativity and wholehearted effort. I hope to contribute these qualities to the college’s advancement and look forward to being a part of the public affairs and development team—a group of professionals I already respect enormously,” said Thoeresz.
