Reedies perform field work in Costa Rica

Michele LaMerrill '02, right, and Kyla Zaret '01 participated spring semester in the University of Costa Rica's program in tropical field science, which introduces students to field research in a variety of tropical habitats. Coursework includes the study of tropical biodiversity and natural history, the ecological complexity of tropical forests, conservation, and major threats to biodiversity. Two other Reed-affiliated programs in Costa Rica feature coursework in Spanish, also at the University of Costa Rica, and an intensive field study program taught in English by the Organization for Tropical Studies.
