Sometime in 1987, rumor has it that Mark Verna '87 took advantage of all those free credit cards you get when you leave college, maxxed them out, and headed to Europe. Upon departing, he left his MG Midget parked in the lot behind the library and gave a friend the keys to the car. Asked him to take care of it, and said he could drive it as much as he wanted. Such a deal, considering the MG Midget's unparallelled reputation for reliability. Rather than sink good money into Verna's bad car for the dubious honor of driving a ratty MG, the caretaker took little care of the car, and the neglect began to show.
