Alumni Matters

Alumna, alumnus, alumnae, alumni: alumna refers to a woman; alumnae is the plural. Alumnus refers to a man; alumni is the plural, also used for a group of men and women:

the alumni board, the alumni association, reunions, Portland chapter

not:

the Alumni Board, the Alumni Association, Reunions, Portland Chapter

Class names: lowercase is preferred. Example:

class of '89

Class years: no comma between name and class year, or after the class year. The class year apostrophe is formed in Word by the combined commands shift-option-right bracket (]):

Reed alumna Barbara Ehrenreich '63.

not:

Reed Alumna Barbara Ehrenreich, '63
