Presidential Search

April 13, 2012

Welcome to the Reed College presidential search website.

Last June, President Colin Diver informed the community of his intention to retire at the end of the current academic year, after ten successful years as Reed’s president. Since September, the Presidential Search Committee has been working to identify candidates for the presidency.

As many of you are aware, two candidates visited campus last week. Each candidate spent two days meeting with groups of faculty, students, staff, trustees, and alumni, in the confidential process we have described in previous updates. Both candidates came away from their meetings with increased enthusiasm for Reed, and both remain extremely interested in becoming Reed’s next president.

All of the participants in the campus visits have provided extensive comments on the candidates in response to the committee’s online surveys. The Search Committee will meet this week and next to consider all that we have learned about the candidates, and to prepare our recommendation to the Board of Trustees for its meeting on
April 21.

We want to sincerely thank all who participated in the campus visits. The detailed and thoughtful input you have provided is essential and informative, and the committee is giving it careful consideration. We are grateful for your help.
