Orientation 2008
Welcome to Orientation 2008!
Orientation represents a series of events and activities designed to welcome new students and their parents to Reed. New Reedie orientation is the core of Orientation 2008 and is mandatory for all new students. Optional activities are referred to as odysseys; it is highly recommended that you attend one to further enrich your orientation experience.
New Reedie orientation
These activities will help you acclimate to Reed. Orientation check-in is at Kaul Auditorium, 9 a.m.–3 p.m., Wednesday, August 27. New Reedie orientation runs through Monday, September 1. View a tentative schedule. No registration is necessary.
Outdoor & SEEDS service odysseys
These trips provide wonderful opportunities to meet other new and returning students who share your interests. Trip participants should arrive on campus Friday, August 22, to prepare for trip departures Saturday, August 23. Register by June 29.
International orientation odyssey
The international orientation odyssey is focused on helping international students and language scholars transition successfully to life at Reed and in the U.S. Dorm rooms open for international students and language scholars on Friday, August 22, and those participating in international orientation are asked to arrive by Saturday, August 23. All international students and language scholars are requested to register online in order to inform the international student services office of their plans regarding the international orientation odyssey. Peer Mentor Program retreat
The Peer Mentor Program provides support to new students who seek to have in-depth conversations about the dynamics of racism, classism, sexism, sexual orientation, and religious intolerance, along with various other issues of oppression that may or may not impact ones campus experience. Registered participants may attend the Peer Mentor Program retreat Tuesday, August 26. Register by July 1. Click here to register through IRIS.
Parent odyssey
The parent odyssey will take place Wednesday, August 27, and Thursday, August 28. Register online by August 1. Don't miss this opportunity to attend programs and events planned especially for parents.
Special assistance
Let the orientation office know of any special accommodation or other needs by July 27.
