New York Times reporter David Cay Johnston delivers a critique of the U.S. tax system


The lecture on Monday, February 6, 2006, was attended by several hundred at Reed College.


Johnston is a reporter for the New York Times and the author of the best-selling book Perfectly Legal. He received the Pulitzer Prize in 2001 for his coverage of the tax system. In his lecture, "Stealing from the Future – Tax Cuts for the Super Rich, Debt for You," David Cay Johnstson said recent tax cuts have created a tax system "where the burden rises until you reach the political donor class, then it falls."
