RENOWNED PIANIST ANDREAS KLEIN TO PERFORM AT REED
German pianist Andreas Klein will perform at Reed College’s Kaul auditorium on Sunday, October 8, at 3 p.m. Tickets for the concert, presented by Reed’s music department, will be available at the door for $12 for members of the public and $10 for students and seniors. The program will consist of J.S. Bach’s Partita in C minor, B.W.V. 826; Beethoven’s Sonata in A flat major, op. 110; and Chopin’s Sonata in B minor.
Klein, who has twice performed as part of Reed’s music matinee series, has performed in many of the world’s most prestigious venues, including London’s Wigmore Hall, the Philharmonic Hall in Berlin, Carnegie Hall, the Kennedy Center, and the National Gallery. He has frequently been featured on National Public Radio’s Performance Today and appeared in the PBS series Intermezzo with Andreas Klein. Klein’s two albums have received strong praise from critics and audiences alike. The New York Times called Klein "a fascinating artist with all the indispensable tools: temperament, taste, touch, tone–the four Ts of pianism."
Klein, a graduate of New York’s Juilliard School, studied with legendary pianists Claudio Arrau, Nikita Magaloff, and John Perry. He holds a DMA degree from the Shepherd School of Music.
