HOFFMAN AND FRIESEN PRESENT HOLIDAY JAZZ CONCERT AT REED

The Reed College Music Matinee series will continue its twenty-sixth season with a holiday jazz concert at 3 p.m. on Sunday, December 8 in Reed s Vollum Lecture Hall. The concert will feature bassist David Friesen and pianist Jeannie Hoffman, accompanied by a special guest performer. The event, sponsored by the Reed College Music Associates, is free and open to the public. For more information, call the Reed events line at 503/777-7755.

David Friesen began his musical career with the ukulele and accordion at age ten. During the last 30 years he has achieved critical acclaim for his national and international performances in United States, Canada, Europe, Japan, and Australia. In August of 1983, Friesen accompanied Paul Horn on a historic four-week, 18-concert tour of the Soviet Union. He has recorded 19 albums and has also performed on 28 albums with such jazz greats as Joe Henderson, Billy Harper, and Dextor Gordon. David Friesen is doing for the bass what Pythagoras did for triangles, wrote W. Patrick Hinely in Jazz Magazine.
