PATRICIA ALBERS, BIOGRAPHER OF TINA MODOTTI, COMING TO REED
Author and curator Patricia Albers will deliver a lecture on photographer Tina Modotti on Friday, October 6, at 2:30 p.m. in the Reed College psychology auditorium. The lecture celebrates Mexicanidad, the exhibition of works by Tina Modotti and Edward Weston currently on display in Reed’s Douglas F. Cooley Memorial Art Gallery. The exhibition will run through October 8, and the gallery will be open both before and after the lecture. Her lecture is free and open to the public. For more information, call the Cooley Gallery hotline at 503/777-7790.
Albers's lecture also coincides with the PhotoAmericas conference in Portland. Albers has recently written Shadows, Fire, Snow, a biography of Modotti, and curated Tina Modotti and the Mexican Renaissance, currently on exhibit at the Helsinki City Museum, Finland.
