Lucille Clifton, National Book Award winner and only author nominated for two Pulitzer Prizes in the same year, reads from her work on Wednesday, February 25
WHAT: Poet and children's book writer Lucille Clifton read her works on Wednesday, February 25, 2004. Clifton's appearance is part of Black History Month programming at Reed College.
Clifton is a chancellor of the Academy of American Poets and recipient of a National Book Award and an Emmy Award. The author of Blessing the Boats, The Terrible Stories, The Book of Light, Next and Good Woman , Clifton has served as poet laureate for the state of Maryland, and is the only author to be nominated for two Pulitzer Prizes in the same year (1987).
