Andrew Abbott discusses the impact of library practice on scholarly methods, January 31 at Reed College


WHAT

In his lecture "Library Research as Computation: The Technology of Traditional Practice," Andrew Abbott addresses the trend of contemporary educational institutions toward digitization of library collections and how this trend interacts with the methods of the scholar. Abbott is the Gustavus F. and Ann M. Swift Distinguished Service Professor in Sociology and the College at the University of Chicago, a Guggenheim Fellow, and a former president of the Social Science History Association.
