Dec 7 | Fun with Folk Songs The featured work will be Johannes Brahms's Zigeunerlieder (gypsy songs), sung by the Reed Chorus and conducted by Virginia Hancock, with Rob Fishel, piano. The Collegium Musicum will sing a wide variety of folk song arrangements ranging from the German Renaissance through settings by Brahms and Arnold Schoenberg to spirituals and popular American song. |

Apr 19 | Concert—"A Royal Banquet" The Reed College Music Department will present a choral concert—"A Royal Banquet"—on Sunday 19 April at 7:30 p.m. in Kaul Auditorium. Admission is free. The Reed Chorus and members of the Reed Orchestra will perform two of the Coronation Anthems that Handel wrote for King George II of England in 1727; and the Collegium Musicum will sing works composed for Henry VIII and Queens Elizabeth I and Elizabeth II, along with a general prayer for good government by Heinrich Schütz. Virginia Hancock will conduct. |
