His book, Debussy and the Veil of Tonality: Essays on His Music, was published in 2004. |

Nov 21 | Reed College Orchestra Fall Concert The Reed College Orchestra, directed by David Schiff, will present its fall concert, "The 18th Century, Real and Imagined" on Thursday November 21 at 8pm in Kaul Auditorium. The program will include music by Mozart, C.P.E. Bach, Dittersdorf, Fauré and Ives and will feature soloist Andrew Wilhite ('14) and assistant conductor Roger Wallace ('14). |

Dec 8 | Britten and the British: music for the holiday season The featured work, celebrating the centenary of the composer's birth, will be Benjamin Britten's A Ceremony of Carols, sung by the Reed Chorus and conducted by Virginia Hancock, with Denise Fujikawa, harp. The Collegium Musicum will sing a variety of a cappella works ranging from medieval carols through music by William Byrd to twentieth-century pieces by Howells, Holst, and Joubert. |

Mar 27 | Chamber Ensemble of the United Nations International School (UNIS) Reed College will present the Chamber Ensemble of the United Nations International School (UNIS) in a free concert in the Eliot Hall Chapel on Wednesday 27 March at 7:00 p.m. The ensemble is conducted by Daniel Stroup, a Portland native who studied choral conducting with Bruce Browne at Portland State University. Its members, young singers between the ages of 13 and 18, come from Argentina, Austria, Belgium, Canada, China, France, India, Mexico, South Africa, Sweden, the United States, and Vietnam. The program will include choral music of various cultures and styles, from the Renaissance madrigal to 20th-century vocal jazz. |
