Arabic Typing Help

You must install an Arabic keyboard to type in Arabic. Apple and pc machines have slightly different keyboard layouts, and there's also an Arabic QWERTY keyboard that maps Arabic characters onto Latin characters with similar pronunciation. The Arabic QWERTY keyboard is not commonly used in Arabic-speaking countries.

Note that MS Office applications running on mac machines do not support right-to-left language input and therefore do not display Arabic correctly. To type documents in Arabic, use Google docs or LibreOffice, free office software. LibreOffice is installed on all Language Lab computers.
