International Programs

Pontificia Universidad Catholica Ecuador (PUCE)

This program is a direct matriculation into the Pontificia Universidad Catholica Ecuador (PUCE), a mid-sized (15,000 students), private, Catholic university with a campus in central Quito. Students with at least four semesters of college-level Spanish (or the equivalent) may choose to spend a semester or year studying a wide variety of disciplines at PUCE, ranging anywhere from Local Environmental Studies and Latin American Humanities to Architecture. Upon arrival at the university, following a short orientation period, students will take a Spanish placement test that will determine their course of study. Students must test into both faculty courses and literature courses. There is no campus housing at PUCE, but the international offices set students up with homestays. The campus does however offer its students numerous other amenities such as gyms, cultural events, student clubs and internships. Events specifically targeting international students are also organized, offering conversation groups and Ecuadorian student mentor partnerships. Meals are organized through housing, with breakfast and lunch provided Monday through Saturday. In addition to language prerequisites, students must maintain at least a 3.0 GPA in order to qualify for this program.
