Reed College, one of the country’s leading private liberal arts colleges, invites nominations and applications for the position of Director of Donor Relations. Reed is a highly selective liberal arts college that values intellectual achievement and has a strong tradition of alumni/ae involvement and support. The Director of Donor Relations is responsible for leading the development office’s communication and stewardship initiatives. Reporting to the Director of Development, the Director of Donor Relations will join Reed at an exciting moment, the conclusion of a successful and ambitious comprehensive campaign and the introduction of a new president.

The Director of Donor Relations will be responsible the following:

Lead Reed’s Donor Relations department to ensure consistency of development messaging across solicitation and stewardship vehicles. Steward gifts thoughtfully and create high quality marketing materials for fundraising initiatives. Supervise a full-time Associate Director responsible for various stewardship activities, including fund reports, correspondence, memorandum of understanding, whitepapers, and special ad-hoc assignments. Direct efforts to ensure that fundraising proposals, naming opportunities, gift acceptance procedures, pledge forms, and MOUs meet the needs of the college and strengthen donor relationships with Reed. Collaborate as necessary with College Relations Information Systems to execute giving and stewardship activities in a donor-centered manner. Oversee annual endowed funds reports; recognition list mailings; and cultivation materials for major and special gift prospects. Write key messages and collaboratively conceptualize strategy for large-scale Annual Fund solicitations and other emerging fundraising inititiatives. Help ensure Planned and Major giving teams use consistent messages across channels. Manage stewardship and recruitment materals for volunteer groups; donor event materials; and development web site content. Write and edit other miscellaneous fundraising letters, development web and print copy, and development-related President's correspondence.Coordinate meetings with College Relations VP and other department leaders to review plans, progress, and long term objectives.

Minimum qualifications include a bachelor’s degree or equivalent and five years of directly related work experience.
