Director of Disability Support Services

Reed College seeks a Director of Disabilities Support Services for a full-time 12-month position.  The Director of Disabilities Support Services works with staff, students and faculty to facilitate student success in support of the academic mission of the college.  Primary responsibilities include: reviewing documentation of disabilities and evaluating student requests for accommodations; working with faculty and students to coordinate accommodations; maintaining records, documentation and informational materials; maintaining a detailed understanding of current practices for disabilities services in higher education; providing consultation and training for staff and faculty regarding disabilities and accommodations; and providing consultation and coaching for students with academic concerns. The Director of Disabilities Support Services reports to the Associate Dean of Students. 

Qualified candidates will have current knowledge of the principles and practices of disabilities support services in higher education and will have demonstrated effective working relationships with students, parents, staff and faculty.  The successful applicant will also demonstrate a record of strategic planning; assessment and evaluation of programs; careful record keeping and attention to detail; collaboration with students, staff, and faculty; and execution of actions and initiatives that demonstrate a professional commitment to issues relating to diversity. 

A Master's degree in clinical psychology, disabilities services, or a related field and a minimum of two years experience in higher education are required.  Preference will be given to candidates with a Ph.D., at least five years of experience in higher education, and/or any combination of experience and education which provides the applicant with the desired skills, knowledge and ability required to perform the job.  The division of Student Services values diversity and encourages applications from underrepresented groups.
