DIGITAL/PHOTO Media Assistant

Reed College seeks applicants for the part time Digital Media Assistant position (30 hr. per week) in the Art Department. Position supervises students using Art Department photographic and digital facilities, and properly maintains equipment and workspace. Requirements include: ability to manage computer lab and darkroom, knowledge of fine arts, ability to read and understand technical information, ability to identify hazards and use safety precautions, and ability be certified in first aid and CPR.  Qualifications:  BA or BFA with knowledge of Fine Arts photography and digital media practices including traditional B&W darkroom, digital imaging and video.  Applicants must be able to communicate clearly and work effectively and enthusiastically with faculty, students, administration and staff.  Applicants must possess extensive knowledge of the Macintosh operating system (OS X) and network/server administration (OS X Server) tasks such as setting up file servers and user accounts, common Mac platform digital media tools (Adobe Creative Suite, Final Cut, scanning, printing, and video), and applicants must possess two years experience working in a digital media lab or photographic facility, or any combination of experience and education which provides the applicant with the necessary skills, knowledge, and ability to perform the required work.
