Reed College reserves the right to change, terminate or otherwise modify any or all provisions of the following benefits at any time and for any reason.
2. Bereavement leave
Eligibility
All regular full-time and part-time employees. Union employees must refer to their union contract.
The program
In the event of death of an immediate family member, domestic partner, or another person living in the same household as the employee, the employee will be allowed up to three normally scheduled working days for bereavement leave within a reasonable time-frame from the death.
The employee will be paid for the scheduled work day(s) missed and may be required to furnish satisfactory evidence to support the leave. Additional days beyond three may be used from accrued vacation time or taken without pay, with the approval of the employee's supervisor.
"Immediate family" is defined as current spouse or domestic partner, mother, father, step-parents, sister, brother, children, step children, current mother-in-law, current father-in-law, sons-in-law, daughters-in-law, grandparents, and grandchildren.
