Please join me in welcoming Joan Q. Smith to the Reed admission office. Joan has a strong background in admission, most recently working at Yale University as associate dean of admission. Joan will start at Reed College on January 6 as senior associate dean of admission, reporting to me. Her responsibilities will include co-leading Reed's outreach, evaluation and enrollment processes, and she will manage the team that focuses on southeastern US. Joan will be located in the Eliot Hall, room XXX, and can be reached by phone at XX and by email at XX. Please join me in welcoming Joan to Reed College.

What is a peer mentor?

Someone who will take the new employee to lunch a few times, perhaps once a week for the first month, be a resource for understanding Reed structure and culture, help with basic functionality of calendar and email, show favorite places on and near campus, and more!


HR New Employee and Benefits Orientation

These typically occur the 1st & 3rd Wednesday of the month from 10 a.m.–12 noon in ETC 211


Prep employee’s workspace

Clean desk; stock with basic supplies; organize old files as appropriate
