Kate Smith

Kate Smith, PhD, LPC, PMHNP


Kate is the Director of the Health and Counseling Center.

She received her BS in Psychology from Trenton State College, MS in Counseling Psychology from the University of Oregon, MS and PhD in Nursing from Oregon Health & Science University. She is licensed as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner and as a professional counselor in Oregon. Kate has worked at the HCC since 2005 and became the Director in 2009.

Cathy Leineweber, RN, has worked at the Health & Counseling Center since 1991. She has a BS in Sociology from Portland State University and RN from Good Samaritan Hospital. She is married with three children. Hobbies include traveling, yoga, and gardening.

Maureen Mitchell, BScN

Medical Services Manager

Maureen joined Reed College in August 2015 as the Medical Services Manager. She pursued her nursing education in Canada and migrated to the United States in 1988 with her family. 

Maureen's nursing career has been spent in ambulatory care, administration, and education. She is looking forward to working with the diverse population of students at Reed. 

Sarah Proudman

Sarah Proudman, RN

Registered Nurse

Working as a nurse since 2003 at the Health and Counseling Center, Sarah has enjoyed interacting and assisting students with their medical needs. Her previous nursing employment consisted of working on a medical/surgical and cardiac unit in the hospital setting, and in case management with disabled adults, children, and the elderly in the home health environment. Sarah's educational background includes an BA in Adolescent Psychology/Counseling from Penn State and a BS in Nursing from University of Portland. In her free time, Sarah enjoys gardening, running, hiking, knitting, and raising farm animals.

Registered Nurse

Grace is a RN with approximately 30 years' experience. She has experience in obstetrics, cardiovascular, pediatrics, general surgery, clinic nursing, school nursing, and college health. Grace is married with 4 grown children, the youngest of whom is a Peace Corps volunteer in Panama.
