Giving to Reed

Philanthropy among Parents of Students
& Alumni

parent and student Thank you for your interest in the Reed College Parent Fund. Each year, a growing number of parents choose to express their support of Reed College with a charitable gift to the Parent Fund. Philanthropic support from parents serves as a powerful endorsement of the educational experience provided by Reed. Philanthropy also plays a key role in the overall financial strength of the college.

Last year, the Parent Fund contributed 12% of the $2.8 million raised in unrestricted annual support of Reed. Parent Fund donors directly enhance the educational experience for their own child, as well as for their child’s fellow Reedies. Unrestricted contributions subsidize specific expenditures such as: student activities, the purchase of new library books, resources for faculty and research, and student financial aid.

The benefits of a Reed education last a lifetime. Many parents of alumni honor Reed’s lifelong influence by continuing to give to the Parent Fund year after year. Often, parents are motivated by an appreciation for the profound impact that Reed has on their child’s life beyond college. These generous parents strengthen the value of their child’s degree by strengthening Reed College through their philanthropy.

Reed honors and appreciates all parents of current students and parents of alumni who make the college a philanthropic priority. Parent Fund donors are listed in the annual honor roll of donors published each fall.
