How to apply for financial aid

The financial aid office staff members are here to help you complete the process of applying for financial aid with as little confusion and stress as possible. Please contact us if you have any questions or problems along the way.

STEP ONE: Indicate on your Application for Admission that you intend to apply for financial aid. Students who indicate they do not intend to apply for financial aid are ineligible for financial assistance from Reed if in the future they wish to change this response. As well, international students admitted without financial aid are not eligible for financial aid throughout their enrollment at Reed.

STEP TWO: Complete the College Board/College Scholarship Service's (CSS) Financial Aid PROFILE application for the 2018–19 school year. The CSS PROFILE is used to determine your eligibility for Reed's institutional funding. When you complete the PROFILE, list Reed College's code 4654. If your biological parents are not married to each other, each parent will need to complete a separate PROFILE. The 2018–19 PROFILE is available beginning October 1, 2017.

STEP THREE: After completing your CSS PROFILE application, you will receive an email from College Board's IDOC service. Follow the directions in the email to upload certain 2016 tax documents to their secure site.

STEP FOUR: If you are admitted and choose to enroll at Reed, you will also need to complete the Certification of Finances (which is required to create your Student Visa document).
