Masterclass: Paul Roberts, piano
Saturday, 2 - 5:30 p.m., Performing Arts Building 320
“Paul Roberts’ excellence as a writer on music is matched by his superb talents as a pianist. I know of no other figure in the musical world who combines so impressively the roles of scholar and performer.” – Richard Goode
We are pleased to present Paul Roberts in a special chamber music workshop featuring three Debussy sonatas, all written between 1915 and 1916: Sonata for Cello and Piano, Sonata for Violin and Piano, and Sonata for Flute, Viola and Harp. Musicians will include advanced student instrumentalists from the area, with Paul Roberts at the piano.
The workshop will be a cross between a master class and an open rehearsal, engaging the audience in the process and at the same time providing insight into the nature and structure of the music in the manner of a lecture recital. Join us for the working sessions or the culminating performance at the end of the day.
Workshop, 2:00-5:30 pm • $20
Following the workshop, there will be a concert in Eliot Hall chapel.
Concert, 7:00 pm • $15
SAVE by buying both for $30 and join Paul Roberts and the musicians for a no-host supper in the Reed Commons before the concert. All full-time students admitted free to the workshop and/or concert.
