Talk: Michael Rohd, “Devising Theatre & Civic Practice: Engagement as Artmaking, Audience as Collaborator”

Michael Rohd, assistant professor of theatre at Northwestern University, founding artistic director of Sojourn Theatre, and founder of the Center for Performance and Civic Practice, offer insights into developing collaborative theatre projects with community and civic organizations. What is the relationship between making art and making change? What does theatre look like when it is not a production? How can artists collaborate with civic partners? Prof. Rohd will share wisdom and stories of his own experience making theatre in a wide range of settings, and will speak to the potential of theatre to catalyze dialogue and enliven the public sphere.
