Stephen Ostrow Distinguished Visitors Program in the Visual Arts: Janine Antoni, “At Home in the Body”

Tuesday, 7 p.m., Kaul Auditorium

Janine Antoni employs an amalgam of medium including performance, sculpture, photography, installation, and video. Her body is both her tool for making and the source from which her meaning arises. She comes to Reed as a Stephen E. Ostrow Distinguished Visitor in the Arts. Antoni was born in Freeport, Bahamas, and received a BA from Sarah Lawrence College and an MFA from the Rhode Island School of Design. She is the recipient of several prestigious awards, including a John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Fellowship, the New Media Award, the John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation Fellowship, Anonymous Was A Woman Grant, and a project grant from the Pew Center for Arts and Heritage to collaborate with choreographers Anna Halprin and Stephen Petronio at the Fabric Workshop and Museum in Philadelphia on an exhibition scheduled for 2016. Antoni currently resides in New York City. Learn more about Ostrow Distinguished visitors.
