(Source: Rules of Procedure, E)
Section E-2. A Faculty member is under no obligation to accept a deferment of retirement beyond the mandatory retirement date or to accept special re-employment after retirement, and the College is under no obligation to continue a Faculty member's appointment past the mandatory retirement date, which is on the 31st day of August next following his or her seventieth birthday.
Section E-3. A Faculty member on extended appointment beyond the mandatory retirement date shall not be eligible to be Chair of a department or division, a member of the Committee on Advancement and Tenure, a member of the Committee for Academic Policy and Planning, or a member of the Appeals and Review Committee.
Section E-4. The College may retire a Faculty member for reasons of health before his or her normal retirement date whether or not the individual requests it. As an alternative in such cases, the College will consider the provisions of Article C-4 before taking such action. If there is disagreement as to the Faculty member's ability to continue, he or she may appeal to the Appeals and Review Committee.
Section E-5. Early retirement at the request of the Faculty member may be approved by the College.
