Visiting Assistant Professor of Ethnomusicology

The Music Department of Reed College invites applications for a one-year visiting position in ethnomusicology at the assistant professor level for the 2018-2019 academic year. The area of specialization is open. The successful candidate will teach five total courses, including “The Cultural Study of Music” (an introductory course in ethnomusicology required of all music majors), “Musical Ethnography” (an upper-level course in ethnographic research methods), and three additional courses in his or her area of expertise, complementing existing course offerings in the department. The position will also involve supervising senior thesis projects. Preference will be given to applicants who hold or will be nearing completion of the Ph.D. and who have experience in undergraduate teaching.
