Concerned for a Student?

Faculty, staff, students, families and others who are concerned about the safety or behavior of a student are encouraged to report or discuss the concern with the Dean of Students’ Office.

Situations you may decide to consult with the Dean of Students’ Office include:

  • Academic distress
  • Emergency/crisis situations
  • Concerning or unsafe behavior
  • Medical illness/injury/hospitalization and post hospitalization coordination and support
  • Mental health need or hospitalization and post hospitalization coordination and support
  • Financial hardship/distress
  • Death or serious illness of a family member
  • Personal safety needs
  • Off-campus housing conflict or concern
  • Unresolved conflict or relationship distress
  • Inability to find necessary resources

The Dean of Students' Office staff possess an effective understanding of College policies, procedures, and community life and can work with students, parents, staff, and faculty to address conflicts, eliminate barriers to student success, and identify and connect with campus and community resources.

When you call the Dean of Students’ Office to consult, you will be connected with a staff person who will gather basic information, including the name of the student and the nature of the concern. The staff person will discuss options for addressing the behavior, including steps that you can take and steps the Dean of Students’ Office or partnering office may take.
