The Reed College 2012 convocation ceremony took place on Wednesday, August 22, on the Great Lawn. Ellen Millender, professor of classics and humanities, delivered the annual Odyssey convocation lecture, and Jim Fix, associate professor of computer science, presented the Howard Vollum Award for Distinguished Accomplishment in Science and Technology to Dr. Ed Lazowska, Bill & Melinda Gates Chair in Computer Science in the Department of Computer Science & Engineering at the University of Washington.
